Android 2.0 – Google’s next release

With desert flavored codename Eclair, Android 2.0 is announced by leading IT giant Google Inc. Google has brought up latest version 2.0 of Android, a mobile operating system, to device manufacturers around the world. It was really interesting to see what major improvements have done with this new dessert flavor of Android while watching it’s official video.

Major improvements consist of improved camera interface, updated browser, and lot’s of APIs of core operating system. Camera interface got major updates to handle high end cameras for mobile manufacturers such as white balance, digital zoom, detailed flash settings, scene mode, color effects, shooting mode.

Browser also has got major update, that is partial HTML5 support with video tag support. HTML5 is new technology used instead of flash for video playback within the browser. Only Chrome and Safari are using this technology as an integration part as they use MP4 codec for video playback.

Now, version 2.0 is supporting various screen resolutions so you can be on HVGA display as well. Other major updates are more accurate with faster typing speed rearranged virtual keyboard, multi-touch support, improved dictionary supporting to give names as suggestions.

For faster connectivity support, Google put version 2.0 of Bluetooth supporting sending phone book access profiles as well. It is now also showing the caller name.

From the official demo, now Android 2.0 platform will support for multi-player gaming as well.
